Question

Dear Sirs and Madames, we are three students from Vienna who would like to visit Kaliningrad on our travel through the baltic states mid of April. We plan to get our visas from the embassy or visa service agencies in Vienna before leaving. If we travel to Klaipeda, is there public transport from there to the border and on to the city center of Kaliningrad? If not, is there transportation possibilities on the Russian side of the border on the Curonian Spit? Thank you very much in advance. Warm regards, Julie M.

Answer

To get to Kaliningrad from Klaipeda, you can take bus that departs in accordance with its schedule and arrives in Kaliningrad City centre, i.e. to Yuzhny Vokzal Station. Address: 7 Zheleznodorozhnaya str, Kaliningrad, Russia. You can see the schedule  here.

Question

Hello, I travel often to the Russian Federation (Moscow, St. Peet Kaliningrad and Vladivostok) I now want to visit Kaliningrad with my car instead of by plane. I have a 2-year visa so that isn't a problem. I wonder if I am allowed to drive with a European registered car into Kaliningrad oblast to visit my customers in the Kaliningrad city? Met vriendelijke groet, with kind regards, С наилучшими пожеланиями. Erik V.

Answer

If you are an owner of the car you are travelling by, you can enter the Kaliningrad Region.

Question

Hello, I would like to enquire about getting a short term Visa for visiting Kaliningrad. From the beginning of June, myself and my girlfriend will be doing a cycle tour of Northern Europe, starting in Berlin, going through Poland and continuing through the Baltic states to Estonia. We will be on bicycles only and camping will be our accommodation. I come from Ireland and my girlfriend is German. Would the visa requirements for this type of visit be the same as if we were crossing into the larger part of Russia or are they different? We would like to spend approximately four days in Kaliningrad and cross over from Poland on one end and then exit through to Lithuania. Thank you, Matt

Answer

For the reason that the experiment on issuing 72-hour short-term tourist visas to visitors of the Kaliningrad Region has been cancelled, you should apply for tourist visas to Russian Consulate at place of your residence in advance.

Question

Hello, I have heard from contacts in Russia that the 72 hour visa for British citizens visiting Kaliningrad has been stopped as of January 2017, and tourists must now obtain a full visa to visit. However I have not seen this officially written anywhere. Please can you confirm what the situation is? Many thanks

Answer

Question

My children and I (aged 14 and 11) all British citizens would like to visit Kaliningrad from Gdansk either by train or car in April for the day. How much does a visa cost, how long does it take to obtain one and how do I do this please. Thanks.

Answer

If you are going to obtain visas in Gdansk, you should note that the procedure will take a few days. That is why we recommend you to apply for tourist visas in advance to Russian consulate at place of your residence. There is no train coursing between Gdansk and Kaliningrad.

Question

I am Tunisian arrived to Saint Petersburg five days ago with private visa ended the 1st March.

I want to ask do I need a schengen visa to visit Kalingrad? And if is not what can do?

Answer

Question

Is it still possible to visit Kaliningrad by boat. I am a German citizen. Do o need to have a hotel address when I apply for a regular visa? And how long is it valid?

Answer

Hotel reservation is not a ground for a regular visa. You should either get an invitation letter or apply for a tourist visa. If you are going to visit the region by sea, at entering Russian territorial waters, you should establish radio contact with the border service – the City of Baltiysk, berth 81 – to undergo all the necessary procedures. If you are sailing through the bay, you should apply to Administration of Kaliningrad Seaport for a sailing permit no later than fifteen days before your visit. All necessary information is here (in Russian) and there (in English, menu “Navigation”). You can also consult one of the regional yacht clubs for more details.

Question

Hello, I'm a Brazilian citizen and have planned travelling to Kaliningrad from Moscow by plane (direct domestic flight), then I will stay in Kaliningrad for 4 nights and after that I want to go bus to Vilnius. My questions are the following:

- Do I need a visa to Kaliningrad?

- May I cross the Russian/Lithuanian border without problems? (will I get the "out" stamps on my passport?)

- Do I need to worry about showing registratsya when crossing the border? Since I am staying less than 7 days in Kaliningdad I hope it is not the case.

Another question, not related to my trip: in a visa-free trip, may a Brazilian travel to Minsk in a domestic flight from Moscow and back (tuda-obratno), as there is a visa-free agreement between these countries? Thanks in advance! Cyro C.

Answer

Concerning your questions we can say the following: 1. You do not need any visa for travelling from Moscow to Kaliningrad by plane. 2. At crossing the border between Lithuania and Russia both Russian and Lithuanian officers are to stamp your passport. 3. You do not need to show registration document at the border. 4. Unfortunately, you cannot travel by domestic flights from Moscow to Minsk and back due to the fact that there is no border control procedure for such flights whereas you must undergo the procedure being a foreign citizen.
